EHRI webinar and podcast series | Persecution of the Roma during WW2

To coincide with the Roma Holocaust Memorial Day on 2 August, EHRI organises a special webinar focused on the history of the persecution of Roma during the Second World War on Wednesday August 5, 2pm CET.

During the webinar a new podcast season will be launched dedicated to the persecution and genocide of the Roma during the Second World War. In the webinar three of the season’s featured speakers will meet for a discussion on where Roma genocide research could be heading next. Lovro Kralj will lead the discussion.

Milovan Pisarri (Institute for Philosophy and Social Theory, Belgrade) has dedicated his career to studying the genocide of the Roma and the Holocaust in Serbia and across the Balkans.

Karola Fings (Research Centre on Antigypsyism, Heidelberg University) researches the Nazi persecution of Roma and Sinti. She initiated and led the project “Encyclopaedia of the Nazi Genocide of the Sinti and Roma in Europe” and serves as a member of the German delegation to the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA).

Anna Mirga-Kruszelnicka is an anthropologist and Director of the European Roma Institute for Arts and Culture (ERIAC). She brings extensive research experience on the history of Roma and Sinti, along with years as a Roma activist bridging academic research and civil society.
